KANLUNGAN’s Lived Experience Advisory Panel Holds First Meeting

We’re proud to announce the launch of Kanlungan’s Lived Experience Advisory Panel (LEAP)—a community-led initiative that puts migrant voices at the centre of our work. LEAP is a consultative body composed of individuals with lived experience of human trafficking, gender-based violence, mental health challenges, No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF), and precarious immigration status. Members include those from the healthcare sector, care work, hospitality, domestic work, and elderly migrant communities, as well as LGBTQ+ migrants, asylum seekers, and second-generation youth.

LEAP’s role is to provide insight and feedback on programmes, advocacy, and strategic priorities, helping ensure Kanlungan’s services remain relevant, responsive, and rooted in lived reality. The panel also plays a key part in identifying emerging community needs, supporting co-design efforts, and contributing to funder reporting and impact assessments.

In its first meeting last July 2025, the panel shared powerful reflections and began working on ideas to raise community awareness around labour rights—particularly among newly arrived migrants and those in precarious or exploitative work. Grounded in solidarity and shared experience, LEAP aims to shape Kanlungan’s programmes, advocacy, and public messaging to ensure they remain responsive and rooted in the realities of migrant life. Their message is clear: know your rights, share your story, and organise together.

We are honoured to learn from and work alongside them. More updates to come as LEAP continues to grow and guide our collective journey.
